MDs and Mid-Level Practitioners may apply for waived, non-instrument based POCT privileges*. The Medical Staff Office (MSO) manages these privileges. Each test has its own online training course. Test Menu includes: urine pregnancy, fecal occult blood, urine chemistries 2, 7, & 10, and vaginal pH paper.
To attain these privileges:
- Request from your Chief of Service – who will notify the MSO.
- Successfully complete the online training course, including brief exam.
- Submit evidence of completion to the MSO.
- Retake course every other year.
*This credentialing procedure is allowed by the Joint Commission as an alternative to annual competency assessment for MDs and Mid-level Practitioners.
