The NexScreen Cup Urine Drug Screen has an Internal Quality Control (QC) included in the test. A line should always be present in the Control Region whether or not the test results are positive or negative. This line indicates the test is working properly. If a line is not present within the Control Region, the test is considered invalid and should not be used. A retest should be done with a new, unopened cup. This internal QC is performed with every test and should be documented with the results.
External QC is also required for the NexScreen Cup. Positive and negative controls must be performed once every 30 days, when new shipments of control materials or test kits are received and when new lots of control materials or test kits are received. Liquid Detectabuse positive and negative controls should come to room temperature followed by gentle swirling or inversion before use. DO NOT SHAKE. The lot number and expiration dates on the bottles should be documented on the NexScreen Urine Drug Screen External QC Test Record. Check dates to ensure that test kit QC and material has not expired before performing a patient test. If expired, do not use.
